How To Troubleshoot QuickBooks Desktop Duplicate Transactions?

In the first place, you need to check if duplicate accounts are connected in the QuickBooks. To check, you need to go to the Bank Accounts and confirm that the bank accounts are only connected once. If your bank accounts are connected twice, you need to hide the extra one evoking QuickBooks duplicate transactions. 

To Hide A Bank Account On Web: 

  • Select the Gear icon located at the top. 
  • Now from under the Transactions, select Bank Accounts. 
  • Next, locate the extra account you want to hide and toggle On the Hide option. 

Steps To Delete Duplicate Transactions In QuickBooks Desktop

You can remove QuickBooks duplicate transactions right from your bank feed. You will need to choose the troubleshooting method on the basis of what mode you are using to manage the transactions. 

Case 1: If You Are using Register Mode

If you want to delete QuickBooks duplicate transactions in register mode, you can locate the register at the top of the screen. To look for the transactions, you need to scroll down. If you need to delete the transactions that match the appropriate transactions or don’t match at all, you can delete the entire statement by following the below-given steps: 

  • From within the Banking, menu select Bank Feeds and then further select Bank Feeds Center.
  • Next, locate and select the statement from the Items Received From Financial Institution section and then select View.
  • Select Done to match the appropriate transactions. 
  • When Not Finished Matching screen appears, click Yes. It will send you back to the Online Banking Center.
  • From within the Items Received From Financial Institution section, select the same statement and select Delete.

This procedure will help to prevent the QuickBooks duplicate transactions from appearing the next time you download a statement. 

Case 2: If You Are Using Side-By-Side Mode

To delete QB duplicate bank transactions in side-by-side mode: 

  • Go to the Banking menu in the first place. 
  • Now select Bank Feeds and then further select the Bank Feeds Center. 
  • Next, in the Items Reviewed section, select the account with the transactions you want to delete.
  • After that, click Items to Delete. 
  • Select the QuickBooks duplicate transactions you want to delete. 
  • Select Delete once you are done and then select Yes to confirm. 

Note: If you have already matched your statement, click “Select all downloaded transactions older than” and select the date, which is the end date for the last statement. Click Delete Selected. To get it done, you will need to switch to Register mode to delete everything.
